 THE PROJECT

After years of hard work and experience, Dr. Alicia has created an interactive digital book that makes the study of gynecology into a simple deductive experience.

Her appreciation of what ultrasound can accomplish in OBGYN plus the accumulated knowledge in the field, has been turned into a teaching unique device: and iBook. This book is to be downloaded from the internet and after being downloaded, it will work in places where there is no internet.

The book can be used as a reference text in everyday women’s clinical. The first edition of “El Manual de Ginecología” (written in Spanish and English) was used in the Venezuelan project “Development of an Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Program for Women”, in 1999.

Dr. Alicia has been volunteering to teach ultrasound in Zanzibar, Tanzania (2008), Bali, Indonesia (2014), and Leyte in the Philippines (2014).

Now that Dr. Alicia is retired, she is assuming a full-time job in volunteering to go to different parts of the world to teach midwives and paramedical providers on how to use ultrasound in their everyday practice to enhance their diagnostic potentials.

Our project includes the possibility of donating the ultrasound equipment to be used in the places she is going to teach. We are here inviting everybody that has functional ultrasound equipment that is going to be discarded, to please donate to our endeavor.

As part of this purpose, She have several internet lectures:

WHAT IS GLOBAL WOMEN'S HEALTH SUPPORT (GWHS)

Our purpose is to introduce ultrasound to these communities by providing the equipment, the interactive digital books, and the personal hands-on training on how to perform the various scanning protocols.

"I’m a OBGYN originally from Venezuela. I started my volunteer work in 1995 as part of volunteer surgery group going to the Amazonian areas of Venezuela. In 1998, my project: “Development of an Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Program for Women”, was awarded with a grant to be executed in the Bolivar State, Venezuela. In 2000, I immigrated to the USA where I’ve been teaching ultrasound. Now, after retirement, I’ve been continuing my mission to teach ultrasound and simple surgical skills to physicians and midwives in rural regions of the world. In 2008 we went to the 2 islands of Zanzibar, Tanzania, and in 2014 to Bali, Indonesia, and Leyte, The Philippines. Originally being Spanish speaking person, my next mission will be  volunteering  for Curamericas in the Casas Maternas, Guatemala".
